The Pulvermaar has all of the features of maar typical of the region and is made accessible by an expert guide. In order to gain overview of the region, we walk through the topography of the volcano system with a searching eye and sturdy footwear while two different maar stages and a cinder cone are discovered and knowledge is provided. With the information we gain, we dive into a geological window in the form of an outcrop (tephra pit) in which we read the mechanisms of a maar volcano eruption like a book under expert instruction. With a geologist's pick, magnifying glass, helmet and goggles, we even look at the visible to grasp it and gain deeper insight. The memories you gain are proof of this perceptive experience day.
